Job Title: Endocrinologist (multiple openings)
Duties: The Endocrinologist at Advocate Health and Hospitals Corporation in Park Ridge, IL will recognize and treat diseases, disorders and injuries of the endocrine glands, such as the thyroid, pancreas, ovaries, testes, adrenals, and pituitary. Use specialized medical instruments, equipment and diagnostic techniques to examine patients for symptoms indicative of glandular disease, disorder or injury, such as diabetes, thyroid diseases, metabolic disorders, over or under production of hormones, menopause, osteoporosis, hypertension, cholesterol (lipid) disorders, infertility, lack of growth (short stature) and cancers of the endocrine glands, and verify the necessity of medical treatment, intervention, and/or surgery. Estimate and explain possible risks and effects of treatment options to patients. Determine the best course(s) of care. Prescribe, administer and monitor effects of medications and therapies that seek to help restore the normal balance of one or more hormones in patients and aid in the long-term management of the deficiency or excess of one or more hormones produced by patients' endocrine system. Study diagnostic images, records, and blood test results to aid in diagnosis. Recommend appropriate dietary, activity and lifestyle programs to aid in regulation of endocrine system function. Requires 15% travel to another hospital in Park Ridge, IL to see patients.
Minimum Requirements: Requires a Medical Degree (M.D.) or its foreign degree equivalent, completion of an accredited medical residency in Internal Medicine, completion of an accredited medical fellowship in Endocrinology and possession of a State of Illinois medical license.
